Matt Henry is a Brighton-based photographer who explores the counterculture of America in the 1960s and 70s via beautifully-constructed ‘stills from movies that were never made.’
This piece is from Henry’s The Trip series, in which he tells the story of an ageing hippie, deep in the desert, brewing strong psychedelic liquids for the few far out customers that swing by. Here, the cast pile onto the gas station forecourt to consider where their trip will take them next.
The photographs in this series were captured at a film set in the Mojave Desert in California. The set is designed to look exactly like a 1960s diner, gas station and motel, right down to the smallest of details, which Henry expertly captures in frame.
From a limited edition of 6, this giclée print is signed by the artist.Â
