Ryan Callanan AKA Ryca is known for his fun artworks that combine techniques and typography used in old-fashioned pub signage with motifs from popular culture. Most notably, the smiley face synonymous with the Acid House rave culture of the 1980s.
In this piece, he uses typography art to eternalise the lyrics from Fat Boy Slim’s 1998 smash hit, Right Here, Right Now. In doing so, he creates an artwork that not only reminds us of the magic of the dancefloor, but also the importance of living in the present.
Through his prints and signage, Callanan’s aim is to ‘establish the aesthetic of old-fashioned signage as an art form.’
This silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 100, signed by the artist.
