Along with Ice Age, Raw Earth is the latest release from YBA Marc Quinn’s coveted series of Iris prints. Both pieces are circular editions, accentuating the subtle colours and curvatures of both the iris, and the overlaid map of the Atlantic.
Like a fingerprint, every human iris is entirely unique. Quinn uses these works to explore the notion of identity, describing the human eyes as, the doors of perception, the portal between inner and outer, the link between us and the world.”
Raw Earth is created from a combination of archival pigment and silkscreen printing, and the overlaid map is made from silver leaf. From an edition of 50, the piece is signed on the front and numbered on the reverse.
