Marc Quinn came to prominence as part of the original cohort of the Young British Artists (YBAs) that emerged in the late 80s, and include Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin. Quinn’s profound and at times controversial artworks explore identity and the human condition.
New Geography is from Quinn’s ongoing Iris series, which explores human identity in a digital age. Speaking of this coveted collection, Quinn explains:
“These new pieces are inspired by Ortelius’ classical idea that ‘geography is the eye of history’. New Geography is a presentation of hope for the future. The pieces are a representation of a current world and an optimistic vision for the future, and what we hope the future will be like.”
This artwork is created using a combination of archival pigment printing, silkscreen and diamond dust. From a limited edition of 50, the piece is signed by the artist on the front and numbered on the reverse. It comes framed in a 25mm black box frame.
