British contemporary artist Ryan Callanan AKA RYCA is known for entertaining artworks that play with motifs from popular culture, be that music, film or sweary sayings that have made it into the modern vernacular.
In CD Power Pill (Neon), RYCA showcases his all-time favourite motif – the acid smiley. This nod to rave culture is seen across his oeuvre, making the artwork instantly recognisable as a piece from this exciting artist.
To create the piece, RYCA carves the face out of wood before painting it and applying silkscreen on acrylic to enhance the 3D effect.
