Brighton-based artist, Richard Berner created this piece for New Beginnings, a show curated by Enter Gallery in 2019 featuring joyful artworks from a range of artists with a focus on sustainability.
To create the butterfly, Berner has enlisted his trusty cast of hundreds of tiny meticulously hand-drawn champs , woven together to produce the light and shade of the patterns on the insect s delicate wings. By combining fine pen, gouache washes and 24c gold leaf, Berner has created a stunning piece that captures the incomparable beauty of nature.
