Framed Dazzle Alphabet, Z Supply

The name Dazzle is both a nod to Blake s earlier work, and his more recent interest in the dazzle effect , a method of camouflage used to help vessels avoid enemy detection during World War One.

Blake became fascinated in typography whilst studying Art at Gravesend Technical College from 1949-1951, where he mastered traditional crafts including Roman letter, typesetting and hand lettering. You ll notice, much of his iconic work features text, whether it s the star of the show like in this collection, or an integral part of the piece.
