While James Cauty is best-known as one half of electronic rock band The KLF, and as co-founder of The Orb, his art has been causing controversy since way back in 1994 when he burnt 1 million pounds in cash.
Over the years, Cauty’s undeniable political art has taken on the threat of chemical warfare, the US invasion of the Middle East and the world’s history of rioting.
War is Over is an extension of Cauty’s Stamps of Mass Destruction collection, in which he depicted the Queen on postage stamps wearing a gas mask. The piece also lends themes from the artist’s Operation Magic Kingdom series, in which he replaced the faces of US soldiers in action in Iraq with the smiling faces of Mickey Mouse.
The piece depicts Mickey swinging from the gallows and a scoreboard declaring Al Qaeda 1 – USA 0.
This print is from a limited edition of 150, signed by the artist.
