Peter Blake s Venice Suite series is a prime example of the artist s playful collage style, this time inspired by his trip to the romantic city for the Biennale of 2007.
The collection combines traditional images of Venice with cuttings from photographs, postcards and children s books, to create a surreal fairytale city besieged by unexpected visitors and activities. In Crash Landing, an aeroplane floats in the Grand Canal, while survivors float in life rafts and rubber rings, and a man is rescued by an albatross.
Published in 2009, this silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 75, signed and numbered by the artist.
