Slim Aarons is an American photographer known for capturing (in his own words) ‘attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places.’ However, life wasn’t always cocktails in exotic locations for Aarons. The photographer began his career photographing soldiers in combat during World War II, for which he received a Purple Heart.
After the war, Aarons set his sights on capturing the lifestyle of the rich and famous. By winning the trust of his subjects, he was able to shoot some of the most intimate and candid portraiture of the 20th century.
Snowmass Picnic depicts a stand-up fondue feast held for hungry skiers at Snowmass-at-Aspen in Colorado. The event was arranged by Holiday Magazine, and the hot food was transported to the mountain by helicopter. The guest list included Howard Head of the Head Ski Company, president of IBM Thomas Watson Jr. and his wife Olive, Norwegian Olympic skier, Stein Eriksen, and American restaurateur Armando Orsini.
This C-Type photography print is available in multiple sizes, and is part of an open edition, stamped by the publisher.

In some instances we may be able arrange for prints to have exactly the same measurements of the printed area (at an additional charge). If you require this service please contact the gallery.
