This artwork is part of a series created by Brighton-based artist, Richard Berner, inspired by the works of the Old Masters. This piece is the artist s interpretation of one of his all-time favourite paintings, Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette by Vincent Van Gogh.
This is another of Berner s works to be crafted entirely from a meticulously-hand-drawn cast of little figures, that he calls Champs. It is a wonderful example of Berner s talent for creating intricate pieces that sing with unexpected details.
