Nimenko is a New Zealand born artist, now living and working in rural Gloucestershire. She is known for arresting mixed-media collages, inspired by the natural world.
As the name suggests, this piece is a modern momento mori, created using imagery of life and death. Alongside Jesus s crucifixion, Nimenko features butterflies and photographs of flowers (taken in the artist s garden) to symbolise the transience of the life cycle. The Latin inscription, In hoc momento pendet eternitas translates to, On this moment hangs eternity.
This mixed-media collage is finished with 24ct gold and a gold gouache. From a limited edition of 50, the piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
