Ryan Callanan aka RYCA has created this original piece especially for his 2022 solo show at Enter Gallery, Playtime – a journey inspired by ‘countless hours wasted bashing buttons’.
In this nostalgic series of original paintings, RYCA recreates classic Sega packaging with nods to modern internet terminology, music and movies. In Reasons to be Cheerful, RYCA immortalises the famous Ian Drury and the Blockheads track, alongside one of his beloved acid smileys.
Playtime marks the artist’s first time presenting a series of paintings, and as he explains: ‘this could be the first and the last time…’
This original oil painting and enamel on canvas is framed by the artist, and signed and numbered on the reverse.Â
