Lucian Freud was one of the most significant artists of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. This set of two books is the most comprehensive retrospective of his illustrious career, offering unique personal insight into the man behind the artist. 

Featuring more than 480 illustrations, the book celebrates the artist’s evocative portraits of Freud’s friends, family, lovers, neighbours and those he claimed to like the look of, from his book maker to a bank robber.

The book is created in collaboration between David Dawson – Director of the Lucian Freud Archive and for two decades Freud s assistant, model, and friend, author Martin Gayford and editor Mark Holborn.
