Lord Mayor s Show 800 Years 1215-2015 Supply

Since his career began in the 1950s, Sir Peter Blake has been prolific, creating paintings, collage, typography and more inspired by his fascination with popular culture. Blake’s impact on the face of contemporary art is so significant, he is now
known as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art.’ 

Blake created this print to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Lord Mayor s Show in London. In the artwork, Blake employs his signature collage technique to depict every century the parade has taken place.

To capture the chaotic splendour and pomp of the London event, attendees at the party include everyone from acrobats to inflatable pigs.
