This silkscreen print is from Peter Blake s 1991 Alphabet Series, which is inspired by people and objects who have made their mark on British popular leisure culture.
Widely considered to be one of his finest series of work, the collection epitomises Blake s signature style, namely the use of found imagery sourced from magazines, postcards and other popular ephemera.
L for Love features an image of young lovers, which dates back to the early 20th century, and epitomises Blake s soft spot for old photography and for golden bygone eras we just love to idealise.
