This piece is one of two new editions released by YBA Marc Quinn in 2022 to coincide with the opening of his solo exhibition, HISTORYNOW. The exhibition took place at The National Archaeological Museum in Venice as part of the 2022 Biennale.
HISTORYNOW is a collection of work which examines humanity’s increasing dependence on our digital devices, and unpacks our ‘compulsion toward instant consumption and reaction’.
Each piece in Quinn’s series began life as an iPhone screenshot, and is designed to replicate the portals through which humans absorb and consume news, endlessly scrolling through word of natural disasters, shifting cultural events, and incidents of human tragedy.
This archival pigment print has been finished with screen-printed glitter and gold powder ink. From a limited edition of 65, the piece is signed on the front, and numbered on the reverse.
