Featuring ancient mythological beings, anatomical drawings, dream imagery and religious iconography, Dan Hillier works with composite images and 19th-century engravings to create captivating, mystical works, blending Surrealism and Neo-Victoriana.
Hillier was inspired to create the piece by what happens in old-growth woods, when, as he describes: “I’ve been sat still long enough for plants to grow up through my eyes, timorous creatures to get inquisitive and the moon to rise in my disappeared body.”
