British art phenomenon Damien Hirst shot to fame after winning the Turner Prize in 1995. One of the YBAs (Young British Artists), Hirst remains contentious, impressing and shocking in equal measure with his provocative spirit and anarchic aplomb.

Here, Hirst captures the eighteenth century human skull that he decorated with 8,601 flawless diamonds back in 2007. The work is one of the most well-known in the contemporary art world.

The piece is an exploration of two of Hirst’s favourite themes; mortality and the notion of value, wealth and success.
