This original artwork has been created especially for The Mix – Enter Gallery’s 2024 group show of original artworks from a selection of our artists.  

Richard Berner is a Brighton-based artist known for his ‘surrealist architecture , which involves creating artworks from a meticulously-hand-drawn cast of little figures, that he calls ‘Champs.   

A Dream Within A Hundred Dreams is an incredible artwork of a flower in full bloom, created from 100 individual paintings.   

Every square that makes up the artwork is alive with detail, each telling its own story. With so much complexity and imagination embedded within, you’ll spot something new every time you look. Berner reveals:  

I wanted each square to be a piece of art in itself, telling its own story. During the process, some squares took shape with intricate pen work, while others would stay loose and minimal as I drew into the abstract brushstrokes and graphite markings. Overall, the project took longer than a month to be completed.  

This original artwork is created with pen, ink, gouache and gold leaf on paper and framed in a black wood tray frame with a gold slip. It comes signed by the artist. Â
