Dance, Mother Cheap

Driven by his love of his vintage magazine collection, photographer, Mark Vessey became interested in the concept of personal collections. His work involves photographing neatly-stacked journals, LPs and even vodka bottles to capture the aesthetic beauty and joy of owning a collection. 

‘My work is about trying to establish a sense of order. There is comfort in collecting things, studying things that people take for granted, grouping everyday objects in such a way that they become something special, seeing how they fit together to become a thing of great beauty.’ 

If you were raised on a diet of dance bangers, then this Mark Vessey print will whisk you away to the days you spent dancing until dawn. In ‘Dance’, Vessey turns his collector’s eye to records from the likes of Groove Armada, Danny Rampling, Mr Scruff and LCD Soundsystem.   

This large-scale version of ‘Dance’ or the ‘Mother’ as Vessey calls it, is a whopping 125 x 125cm C-Type photograph. This piece comes framed in a tray frame and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
