In Belladonna Branding, London-based artist, Charlotte Rose, evokes a sense of consumer nostalgia for 20th century advertising to explore how flagrant lies were once used to sell cigarettes.
A homage to old Hollywood advertising, this piece is comprised of vintage magazine advertising from the 1960s and 70s, which relied on sexuality to sell cigarettes.
Each image shows seductive Hollywood stars and supermodels smoking, which back then was considered the epitome of glamour and nonchalant allure. The piece is finished with 23ct gold leaf to represent the luxurious days of smoking with the stars.
Belladonna Branding is a limited giclée print hand-finished with spray paint and gold leaf. From a small edition of 20, the piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
