Atlas is one of a pair of prints created by Paul Huxley for the RA Editions Programme. This and Axis are named after the two bones located at the top of the spine, which allow us to move our heads. The pieces came about after Huxley began a series of works focused on balanced and toppling geometric shapes, and the impression of instability they can provoke.
The construction of the piece also works as a nod to, Atlas – the Titan in Greek Mythology who was condemned to hold up the heavens for eternity.
The print is from a limited edition of 40, signed by the artist.
