Colin Barnes is a London-based artist, known for visually-fun works inspired by the graphic forms of comic books and graffiti. 

Visible Invisible I depicts Mammy Two Shoes from the Tom & Jerry cartoons with a simple outline placed where her face would have been had the cartoon chosen to show it.

By leaving the observer to fill in the blanks, Barnes invites us to consider the nuanced micro-aggressions that have permeated black representation in popular culture, showing how seemingly innocuous moments can enforce harmful racial stereotypes.

Visible Invisible I is a giclee print with silkscreen glazes. From a limited edition of 30, the piece is signed and numbered by the artist.
