Featuring mythological beings, anatomical drawings, dream imagery and religious iconography, Dan Hillier is known for working with composite images and 19th-century engravings to create mystical works that blend Surrealism and Neo-Victoriana.
Daybreak was created for Hillier s 2016 solo exhibition, Ceremony. The show, which was held at the Saatchi Gallery, focused on symbolism and sacred imagery and explored themes of mystery, wonder and connection.
This is another of Hillier s artworks, inspired by shamanic plant medicine, ayahuasca. The kaleidoscopic collage is surrounded by geometric flares of light and shade. Hidden in the fringes of the pattern are heroic human forms, infusing the piece with mythic drama.
This giclee print is from a limited edition of 25, signed and numbered by the artist.
Please note this piece is framed in a 25mm black box frame with a white shadow float and regular glass.
