Gavin Mitchell is a London-based artist who reworks found objects using photography, collage and print, to explore the relationship between East and West.
This piece is from Mitchell’s Fourth Wall series, in which he creates new narratives by juxtaposing vintage postcards with black and white film stills from classic B-movies of the fifties and sixties.
In The Very Latest Style, Mitchell expertly combines his movie still and vintage postcard to create a scene where it appears the geisha are welcoming a visitor on horseback.
This pigment print with UV varnish is from a limited edition of 15, signed and numbered by the artist.
