Save My Soul is one of British artist, Anthony Micallef’s so-called Bubblegum Pop paintings, featuring slightly-twisted, Francis Bacon-esque portraits of unusual characters.
The almost cartoon-esque subject of the piece was inspired by a trip to Japan, where Micallef discovered: ‘The culture there is completely twisted. You have that real sugar side, but there’s always a dark side underneath. I’m trying to look at that in-between space in pop.’
This silkscreen print is from a limited edition of 250, signed and numbered by the artist.
