Since his career began in the 1950s, Sir Peter Blake has been prolific, creating paintings, collage, typography and more inspired by his fascination with popular culture. Blake’s impact on the face of contemporary art is so significant, he is now known as the ‘Godfather of Pop Art.’

Back in the early 2000s, Peter Blake created a series of paintings in homage to artist and writer, Marcel Duchamp. The paintings imagined Duchamp in a variety of unusual situations, including playing chess with Tracey Emin and hanging out with the Spice Girls.

This piece is one third of Blake s latest series depicting Duchamp – Marcel Duchamp s World Tour. Each piece in the series imagines his subject attending three fantastical events during a stay in Blackpool. In this artwork, the Tower Ballroom is packed to the rafters with animals, filling the dancefloor and spilling out of private boxes.

The print is part of a limited edition of 100, signed by the artist.
