This silkscreen print is from Peter Blake s 1991 Alphabet Series, which is inspired by people and objects who have made their mark on British popular leisure culture.
Widely considered to be one of his finest series of work, the collection epitomises Blake s signature style, namely the use of found imagery sourced from magazines, postcards and other popular ephemera.
W for Wrestler features a signed poster of Kendo Nagasaki, a wrestler played by Peter Thornley. Nagasaki s character was a samurai with a mysterious past, who had the power to heal and hypnotise his opponents.
From a limited edition of 95, the print is signed by the artist.
