This piece is from Charlotte Rose’s 2022 London show, Too Much of A Good Thing, which was sponsored by Enter Gallery. The show explored the clever artistry of classic branding that’s responsible for building culture, law and nostalgia.
A slice of French nostalgia, this piece brings together the comic book characters Asterix and Obelix with the French cigarette brand, Gauloises. Rose explains:
‘I’m interested in how, as time progresses and the population awakens to the hidden dangers of products once portrayed as their friend, the branding and the culture around it begin to fall away.’
From a limited edition of 10, this giclée print is hand-finished with acrylic paint, and comes signed and numbered by the artist.
